FOOD.

Food. The kid loves it.

For the past few weeks, Colton has been enjoying his 6-month-old self by trying out new foods. At first he was a little skeptical, but he still ate anything that was given to him. He caught on quickly and now devours whatever he is given.

So far making baby food has been pretty easy. It's amazing what you can do with a magic bullet and some ice cube trays!

Here's a video of Colton's first culinary experience with some avocado.

Since then, Colton has tried a few other foods. Here are the results:

Likes

  • Avocados
  • Bananas
  • Carrots
  • Apples
  • Peas
  • Oatmeal
Dislikes
  • When he isn't eating food
  • When the food is all gone
  • When I don't feed him fast enough
  • When he doesn't realize that I'm not giving him another bite yet because he still has food in his mouth.
And now, for the photos...
Food (Again)

Carrots!

For my family- Colton sporting his Colts bib. I'm sure it made the food taste even better. :)

Colton is confused by any food that is not on a spoon.

More Pictures of our Little Man

Pi Day! Colton celebrated by reading his infant calculus book from Aunt Emily. Don't worry, we found pi! He was hanging out with f and x, teaching babies about functions.

The weather was so nice that we had playgroup at a park! Colton got some quality play time with his buddy, Nolan. (...AKA, sitting next to each other and play with each other's toys and/or socks).

Speaking of our little buddy, Nolan turned ONE! We celebrated at his one-year birthday party, which was lumberjack-themed. Here's Colton playing with a very manly lumberjack beard. Naturally, he wore plaid.

Colton loves to escape from things. Apparently, this now include his car seat. I was getting him ready for a walk, and hadn't yet strapped him in. So this happened...

Apparently Colton isn't amused by beautiful weather and nice walks. (Interestingly enough, when I was pregnant, Colton moved like CRAZY. But whenever I went on a walk, that's when he relaxed. So, maybe his out-of-the-womb self also likes to relax on walks.)

Visiting Daddy at work. (Please excuse their clashing greens. Apparently the Nicklaus men did NOT color-coordinate that day).

More time with Daddy.

Oh no big deal, just showing off how well I can sit up.

Oh hello there! Do you see my little ball? I love it with my whole heart.

Also, this football.

Colton can scoot! ...But only backwards. As you can see, he scooted himself back from his toys and started to turn.

Look at that little monster butt! So cute.

He found the camera! ...And he doesn't look happy about it.

More of his little giggles.

Just talking about food.

6 Months

Wow, Colton is half a year old! It's hard to believe that he was born over 6 months ago- we just love this little boy so much!

6 Month Stats
  • Weight: 19.6 lbs - 85%
  • Length: 27 inches - 68%
  • Head Circumference - 46 - 99%
Other Updates:
  • He can sit up on his own! This is usually pretty brief, but he is getting better and better.
  • Colton seems closer and closer to crawling. While on his stomach he can turn himself in different directions, but he can't move forward yet.
  • He has also been scooting backward. He usually only does this if he is upset or angry (ie: bedtime). I'll put him at the far end of the crib, and usually find him at the way back (sometimes with a leg stuck in the slots.)
  • He has been sleeping on his tummy- I always put him down on his back, and he just immediately flips over.
  • He has been incredibly drool-y for a few weeks/months. People have often commented that he is probably teething, and I think they're right- a tooth is finally starting to come in.
  • He can now put his pacifier back in his mouth. Sometimes it takes a few tries, but he can do it! (Usually... sometimes he accidentally knocks it out of his reach.) This is a huge win for the Nicklaus household.
To celebrate turning 6 months, Colton had his first solid(ish) food. We started with avocado, mostly because I thought it would be easiest to make. As you can tell from the pictures below, he is still getting used to it.

Here are some pictures and videos of our little man!

Random February Pictures

It's true! The onesie doesn't lie: this boy is very loved by all his aunts.

Looking so dapper

For the record, he did this to himself.

Colton loves when his daddy comes home from work!

All smiles

From when we tried out the high chair for the first time...

So cute in his little monster sleeper

From our St. Louis trip. We went on a walk in the woods- Colton enjoyed licking my wrap instead of paying attention to nature.

From Valentine's Day! Brian and I loved this little firetruck sleeper.

Another Valentine's picture- showing off his new bib from Dennis and Sherry

Giving Rachel a handhug

Rolling and rolling and rolling (one way... he doesn't know how to come back yet)

Not sure what's going on here.

Yep. That's my kid.
